A European roundtable on sustainable transformation of scientific practice enhanced by platforms and AI – 04 & 05 February 2021
Currently, there is a broad alliance of stakeholders promoting the ides of reorganising our research landscape. The pluralistic Open Science movement has gained a lot of momentum in Europe, yet there is still a lack of speed in implementation due to a variety of barriers and various unsolved controversies resulting from diverging conceptions and interests. Although the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and Gaia-X could establish a new data ecosystem at the intersection of science, economy, and the civil society, it remains a widely open question how such »E-infrastructure« could be designed in order to tackle strucutral problems of science and society.
To get a little closer to the answer, we organised a workshop for our roundtable series called »Sustainability and Digitalization – a European perspective« where we will bring together experts from various disciplinary backgrounds. The project is a joint effort from researchers at Leuphana University Lüneburg, the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society, and the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU), which is financed by the Robert Bosch Stiftung and based on the WBGU report »Towards our Common Digital Future.«
